For those that don't know (which may be a large number, because we haven't had time to write a single e-mail), we are officially parents.
Huge, enormous, geek that I am, I flickr'd pictures from the hospital via cell phone, so there are already some pics from her first two days. As you can imagine, Samy and I have already taken no fewer than 1.5 billion pictures and videos of this little life, and I'll weed through them and post some of them to flickr in the next few days.
The "birth announcement"-type details (and a photo from that first tiny collection) can be found here, so go check that out.
I'll write up some details about the whole experience in the next few days, but in the meantime, suffice it to say that we both feel extremely blessed to have this little angel in our lives. She is teaching us something new every minute.
And she just gave me the sweetest "coming-home" present ever--uninterrupted sleep--three hours worth--so far. I'm going to go continue capitalizing on this while it lasts, but wanted to hop down here and post a little something for those of you who haven't yet heard the big news.
And for those of you that have already heard, thank you so much for the e-mails. I promise to respond to them in the near-as-possible future! Although we're very far away from every single shred of our BC support network, we have really felt the love and warm thoughts that you've been directing to our corner of the desert.
BC is, of course, "Before Claire"...before our lives changed forever.

You seem to be beginning the journey that your were born for (you're so great with *other* people's kids--it's mind-boggling to think what an awesome job you'll do with your own!). You're such a strong and admirable couple, and will undoubtedly make a great "team." Claire is a very lucky girl...
I'm astounded at how well you've done at keeping your "BC network" informed these first couple of days, and look forward to continued updates (as sleep allows, of course!). :)
Congratulations! I'm very happy for you two! Quite a little adventure you have embarked upon. Try to rub your cheeks on occasion as they can get sore with all the smiling. And may you continue to be blessed with a happy, healthy little girl!
Congratualations!! She is so beautiful!! I can't wait for you to visit NJ so I can meet her!! :)
love,
karen
