I too like the second one better. Less busy, and something about the curves/spirals appeals to me.

You know if we were shopping for rugs for ourselves, there's very little chance Kate and I would agree on a rug so quickly.

I like the second one (from Lowes) much better, too. I realize the first kinda goes with the AZ desert theme all around you, but for some reason I've never been a big personal fan of that style. The second, though, I LOVE. Great colors and great design.
